About Us

German-born eyewear designer Klaus Sebök, creator of the Klaus Sebök Signature Line ofklaus.jpg original eyewear, has made his home in Vancouver, BC, Canada for the past forty years. He's worked tirelessly at bringing his customers tasteful, hand-crafted eyewear since 1965.
In the world of fashion it used to be the shoes that made the man, but a Vancouver designer is taking a new outlook on style. To Klaus Sëbok eyeglass designer and owner of Vancouver's Granville EYELAND, eyeglasses are the finishing touches of a wardrobe, the image of the person. If eyes are truly the windows to the soul, why not dress them accordingly? "Glasses are just like shoes," he says. "You can't live with just one pair. They are as varied and as delightful as the expressions of the face."

Sebök has been in the eyeglass industry for over 40 years, starting as an apprentice in Germany. In order to get his certification he had to demonstrate the ability to make a frame from scratch. "It was the first time I had done something well," says Sebök. The rest is history. Today, Granville EYELAND, located in Vancouver's artsy Granville Island, sells up-to-the-minute frames to all types of people. He calls the store the testing ground for designs of the future and says he's inspired every time he sees new eyeglasses uplift and brighten a person's personality. Fashion forward individuals shop at EYELAND, according to Sebök. People with good taste, who know what they want.

There's over 350 pairs of glasses to try on and an unlimited potential in one-of-a-kind Sebök designs. There's the option of rimless glasses, for the weightless, "I'm not wearing glasses" look. Wedding glasses, with the lace of your dress laminated into the frames. There's gold, silver, antique tortoise shell, African water buffalo, and wood frame options, or there's the popular titanium frame that's screwless and extremely flexible. Great for kids. The sky is truly the limit on style, but not the price. All you need is the freedom to stray from the norm, and voilà, a new you!

You could call Granville EYELAND "the haute couture of the spectacles industry". In Sebök's years in the eyeglass industry, he has developed an international following. Customers from Switzerland, Dallas, France, Japan, Australia and the Caribbean all want Sebök originals.

Sebök's first customer at Eyeland was Robin Williams, who was in town filming a movie when he came across the almost-wireless rims he fashions today. Other famous customers include Elton John, Steve Martin, Ed Asner, The Lover Boys and Vancouver's media personalities, Pia Shandel, Alan Fotheringham and Doc Harris.
